Hello new network marketers and congrats!
First, let me congratulate all of you on becoming network marketers! The new adventures you are about to embark on and the relationships you will build along the way will be fun and rewarding. 🙂
Making the decision to become a network marketer was probably an easy choice for you. Most likely you have decided to join a company because you absolutely love the products. Perhaps you are even receiving a discount on the purchase of the products, which is great because who doesn't love a discount! There are some however that not only join for those benefits but they also see the potential money and bonuses that can be earned. They may even choose to make this an actual part time or full time job.
Regardless of the route you have decided to pursue, there are some essential tips that you will want to keep in mind while you are excitedly building your new empire.
6 Essential Tips For New Network Marketers
First, how long has it been since you last touched base with your “friends list”? Often times we are on auto pilot when scrolling through social media and purely hitting like after reading maybe 5 words of a post or just looking at the photo attached is not building a relationship. When is the last time you actually struck up a conversation with them and asked how life was going?
If you can say you are religiously doing this then kudos are in order and definitely keep it up! However, for the remainder of you that are now thinking “hmm, it has been a minute since I talked to Mike and Judy”, you might want to start doing that BEFORE you even mention what's new in your life. You see, if you randomly reach out to them and start talking about your products or business opportunity, their immediate thought will be “they are trying to sell me”. Just stick to the basic conversation and get to know them again.
By far this will be one of the most challenging to keep up with but it is crucial that you do. Now, by this I don't mean consistently blast 50 photos and stories of your product on your social media feed or consistently bug people who don't have an interest in what you're doing. What I do mean is start being consistent with your new lifestyle. If you plan on posting every day, stick to that, if it is every other day or only once a week be consistent in that posting style because it lets people know when to come back for new content or updates.
Develop a plan that fits your routine even when you're busy rushing the kids to their activities and trying to get dinner ready. Evaluate where you are now and where you want to be and make a plan that meets in the middle. If you don't, you will likely burn out. As you read the below tips, be consistent with each and every one of them and you will be thankful that you did.
For some of you this will be easy because you already have everything in its place and are on top of it all. For others, not so much. Either way you just might find yourself overwhelmed as a whirlwind of fun is upon you. You will start having team calls, products to order, parties to prepare for and so on. Staying organized will be one of your keys to success. A monthly planner or notebook really comes in handy for this. Without physically counting, could you say exactly how much product you have on hand right now? Having it all organized in one spot is ideal and having it written on a white board or in a notebook will help.
You will always want to be prepared for helping your customers too. Are you available next Thursday at 7pm to meet up with a potential customer and show them a few products? How about samples? Could you fully provide for your customer on a whim? Don't forget labeling your product it critical too. When they run out do you think they will be able to find that business card you gave them or packaging it came in? Chances are no, they will not. Stay as organized as possible. This is a business you are running and you want to treat it like your favorite store.
I can't stress enough how crucial this tip is, especially given the scenario above. Do you know when your customers should be ordering next? Better yet, have you touched base with them see how they are liking it and if there is anything you can help with? How about paying them a compliment when you notice a change in them from using your product? You should have a genuine heart towards every customer and helping them any time you can.
Also, imagine if you will that you now have 100 new people signed up with customer accounts but they haven't purchased yet, now what? When is the last time you followed up with them even when they haven't ordered? This could be a simple “how are the kids” or perhaps providing them with an update to some product changes that could be occurring. They might not have had the time to look over the 50 page catalog so offering to stop by for a free 30 min consultation might just fit their needs. Point is, you'll never know if you don't follow up.
Here's another crucial tip, time management. Some of you are still holding full time jobs which makes this tip the most important one behind building relationships. It is so very important that you manage your time wisely. How do you do that you might ask? One of the best ways is to talk with people on the phone versus meeting up for coffee. Think about it, by the time you get ready, drive to the coffee shop, sit down and chat and then drive home, you've probably managed to spend about 2 hours. With a phone call you could have wrapped it up in 15-30 mins. That is a HUGE saving of time right there!
Also, how many of you have heard of and are fully utilizing an auto-scheduler for your postings? Now, it will take time to schedule posts for the week on your social media but if you focus and know exactly what to post, (click here for ideas), then you can have your week scheduled out. Now that you will not have to worry about posting, you can use that time for other things.
Invest In Yourself
Your personal growth is another key component to building an empire for yourself. Any time possible, attend company conferences (or any conference for that matter) that will help you grow. See, when you surround yourself with like minded individuals, the mindset is contagious.
